To Nisa, Varum and Botelho (2017) most people have become accustomed to turning off the lights when they leave a room, recycling, and turning off the faucet when they are not using the sink. But a lot of these eco-friendly behaviors could be forgotten when vacationing and having fun. Leaving sustainable habits at home is often necessary when checking into a hotel and fully immersing oneself in the tourist experience. The Tourism and Hospitality Organizations should provide guests with opportunities to engage and learn that can help all to achieve sustainability goals by assisting the community and creating unique experiences. Travelers are more concerned than ever about the impact of their trip as the repercussions of climate change become more apparent. Although it’s evident that hotel guests want to support sustainability programs, it’s not always clear how companies can involve their customers in sustainable activities, namely: Express Your Devotion and commitment; Assist visitors in making educated judgments; Simplify; Engage your visitors; Promote Participation from Guests; Encourage Financial Assistance from Visitor Contributions (Nisa, Varum, and Botelho, 2017).
